Frequently Asked Questions
- How far in advance should I book?
- Four to six weeks ahead is ideal. Major maisons (Moët, Veuve Clicquot, Taittinger, Ruinart) require advance appointments and often fill up quickly. We secure the slots for you.
- Are the tastings included?
- No. Each maison charges its own tasting fee, paid directly on-site. Most tastings range from 20 to 60 euros per person depending on the maison and the cuvée selection. If you would like us to handle the bookings and appointments on your behalf, we can do so for a service fee, which will be detailed in your quote. Note that booking assistance requires prepayment, unlike the tour itself which is settled on the day.
- Which maisons can we visit?
- Pick from our 14 featured maisons and cultural stops above. We arrange the appointments. By-invitation maisons (Krug, Cristal, Salon) can sometimes be added - ask in your message.
- What is the difference between Driving Tour and Guided Tour?
- Driving Tour: chauffeur drives, the maison's own guide leads each cellar visit. Guided Tour: a certified sommelier rides with you, gives vineyard context between stops and curates premium tastings.
- Can we visit a small grower?
- Yes. The Small Grower Visit add-on brings you to a récoltant-manipulant - a family producer who grows the grapes and makes the wine. Intimate, often the highlight of the day.
- When is the best time of year?
- April to October. May, June and September offer the loveliest weather. The vendanges (harvest, usually early September) are a special atmosphere - book very early for those weeks.
- Drink-driving? What about the chauffeur?
- Your chauffeur stays sober throughout the day. You taste freely - that's the whole point of a private chauffeur tour to Champagne.
- Can we make it a weekend?
- Yes. Multi-day champagne weekends with overnight in Reims or Épernay are available - bump the Days field to 2 or 3 in the configurator.
